Blue and Domino, two amazingly beautiful dogs, are now looking for a foster or forever home. Their owner left them behind and they are currently at the West Los Angeles Shelter. We would like to get them both out of the shelter, but either need someone to foster them or sponsor their time at a boarding kennel. Will you help?
Blue, a gorgeous 6 year old pit bull, is a sweetheart, very friendly and loves cuddling. Her ID at the West LA shelter is ID#A1306129. Domino, a playful 2 year old pit bull, would love someone to wrestle with, hike with and call his own! His ID at the West LA shelter is ID#A1306121.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Blue or Domino, please contact us or the West Los Angeles Shelter (11361 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90064; 888-452-7381) right away!
Beautiful "Blueberry", the Siamese mix, made his way to us via the Lancaster City bus. A woman had picked him up from someone giving him away in front of a local store and had intended to keep him. When she went to head home, she was told she couldn't take him on the bus and that was her only option. So now "Blueberry" is looking for you! He is a super cuddly 8 week old kitten who seems to like other cats. We aren't sure about dogs yet, but he's a pretty easy going guy!
If you are interested in learning more about "Blueberry", please contact us with any questions. He's not quite ready to go home yet, but will be very soon. If you have already fallen in love, you can fill out an adoption application online for him.
Before adopting a cat, we require an approved application, a home check, a signed contract and a $125 donation for cats and $175 for kittens to cover the cat's health-related expenses and boarding while in our care. All of our animals are spayed or neutered, have current shots and are microchipped.
Sterilizing, or "fixing", your pet is imperative if we are to be successful in limiting the number of healthy, adoptable animals euthanized each year. And in Los Angeles, it's also the law. All dogs and cats, with a few specific exceptions, must be sterilized by the age of four months old (eight weeks). Spaying/neutering eliminates accidental litters, in addition to making your pet healthier and happier. More information on spaying and neutering and why you should do it, visit the Found Animal Foundation's page on the topic.
There are a number of resources for Los Angeles pet owners that need assistance in getting their pet spayed or neutered. Below is a list of local programs and organizations that provide support (in alphabetical order).
$1500 needed to launch Pet Owner Support Hotline

Joe & his dog Sadie - Joe, although homeless, refuses to give up his
dog. We helped by giving him food, flea medication, explained how to clean Sadie's ears and where to go to get her spayed.
We would like to expand our Pet Owner Support program to include a toll free support hotline to make it easier for those pet owners without internet access to access the help they need. That's where you come in! With your help, we can expand our support program, allowing us to change the lives of hundreds of pets and pet owners who need help. Every person we help equals one less animal entering the shelter system; one less dog or cat left behind when families deal with foreclosures; one less dog or cat dumped in parks and deserts to fend for themselves; one less dog or cat being euthanized when the shelter runs out of space. Most of the time, there are simple fixes to pet owner's problems with their pet. They just need the correct information and resources!
